Funding conditions

If you publish your research, make sure that the Open Access requirements of the funding bodies are met:

  • What are the requirements of your funding body in regard to Open Access publishing?
  • Does your agreement include publishing your results Open Access?
  • Which publication route do you lean toward? Is the green route also a possibility?
  • Are agreements with certain publishers recommended or preffered?

Selection of an Open Access journal

Select a journal:

  • What is your field of expertise? Determine the scope of your research and look for Open Access journals within your research discipline.
  • Check the journals' Open Access possibilities (fully Open Access or hybrid). Which publication route do you lean toward?
  • Verify the reliability of the selected journal using the Directory of Open Access Journals.
  • Consult Sherpa Romeo for their Open Access policy.
  • Check the peer review proces of the respective journal.
  • Check the metrics (such as the impact factor) of the respective journal.
  • Pay attention to the APC and take these costs into account.
  • Under which Creative Commons-license will your publication be licensed?
  • Ask your professor or the information specialists Research for advice.

Requirements of the journal and/or publisher

Make sure that the requirements of the respective journal and/or publisher are met regarding:

  • Copyright Transfer Agreement
  • Creative Commons copyright licenses
  • Embargo period
  • Availability for education at the Hanze UAS
  • Article Processing Charge

Registration in PURE

Make your publication visible in PURE according to:

  • the requirements of your funding body;
  • your agreement with the respective publisher;
  • the Open Science policy of the Hanze UAS.

Open Access Fund

Apply for reimbursement of the APC/BPC:

  • If the publication costs are not included in your project funding, you can apply for reimbursement from the Open Access Fund of the Hanze UAS.
